There are four primary steps to consider when you are trying to build classic golf swing techniques: stance, swing, contact and follow through. Every player starting out in golf has trouble with their swing. It takes time and practice to build classic golf swing techniques.
The golf stance is where the power of the swing begins. If you have a strong and sturdy base from which to swing the golf club you will achieve more power and distance.
An easy way to build classic golf swing technique is to simply walk up to the golf ball, club in hand as if you are getting ready to hit the ball, get yourself in a comfortable shoulder width stance and lay the club down with the shaft touching each of your toes. This simple exercise will reveal the direction in which you are likely to drive the golf ball. Adjust your stance accordingly if your golf club is not pointing in the proper direction.
The second step to build classic golf swing is to evaluate the swing itself. This may have to be accomplished with video or your golfing buddy who can help analyze your form.
When you build a classic golf swing you must strive to keep the swing even and smooth. As you are bringing the club through the motion from the uppermost position through the downward swing you should ensure you get proper rotation of your torso. Moving your torso quickly while keeping your back leg firm but pressing forward you will build golf club head velocity.
The third step is making contact with the ball. As you are driving through with the club, you should concentrate your energy into your hips and shoulders. Keep your wrist firm and straight as you make contact with the ball. You do not want to snap your wrist at the bottom of the stroke. The wrist snap motion will actually decrease the velocity of the club head rather delivering more speed. Remember to keep the direction of the swing in parallel with the now imaginary line that was drawn at your feet in step one.
The fourth step to build classic golf swing techniques is to follow-through. You can have perfect techniques in steps one through three, but if you fail to complete the stroke past where you make contact, then you will diminish the accuracy and the power of the swing. The club should end up on the other side of your body in a smooth, fluid motion. You should not hesitate in your swing because you have made contact with the ball. The swing does not end until the club is on the other side of your body
In order to build classic golf swing techniques, developing these basic steps will have the biggest impact on your game. Golf is not an easy sport to participate in but with a lot of practice and a keen understanding of golf swing basics you can become a better player.
